Congratulations! You’ve just brought a wonderful squishy little human into this world, and you couldn’t be more in love. But you look in the mirror, and don’t recognize yourself anymore.

That’s where I found myself after having my second child. I had bought new pants to wear and couldn’t even get them past my thighs. However, I refused to accept that this was just how it was after having children.

In this blog post I’m sharing the things that allowed me to lose the baby weight and keep it off. We are going to cover:

  1.      How to exercise effectively after having a baby

2.      How to change your diet

So if you are tired of holding onto that extra baby weight too, follow along and I’ll show you how to lose it for good. Let’s get started!

1.    How to exercise effectively after having a baby

Our bodies go through an incredible transformation to bring a baby into this world. Everything just moves around to accommodate that tiny growing human. When your baby comes out though, you can be left with things not going back to their correct places right away.

This was the case for me with my abdominal muscles. I had a four-finger gap even a few months after I gave birth. The first part to healing my body would be to try to close this gap. Thankfully, I found a safe and effective way to do it.

I discovered the Sweat app, which is an exercise app. This app has tons of different programs and trainers so that you can find something that works for you. The program that I used is called Post-Pregnancy by Kayla Itsines. She walks you through how to safely exercise after having your child. There is also an option for women like me who have had a c-section to ease yourself back into exercise. Her program is even endorsed by a panel of leading obstetricians and exercise physiologists.

It can be hard to find time to work out after you have a baby. These workouts are only 15 minutes long, so anyone can find time to do them. They can also be done from the comfort of your own home with minimal equipment.

If you’re like me and you have a hard time knowing what workouts to do, or what order to do them in, then this app is for you. You can plan your week of exercise out. Kayla walks you through every exercise to make sure that you’re doing it correctly. There is also a countdown so that you know how long to do it for.

For less than the cost of a gym membership, you can get the Sweat App and start healing your body postpartum. They even have a free trial for seven days so that you can decide if it’s for you. If you end up loving it, there are a bunch of other programs that you can use after you heal your body to keep going on your exercise journey.*

2. How to change your diet

As everyone knows, exercise alone is not enough to change your body. You also have to nourish your body from the inside out with clean and wholesome ingredients. I found an easy and effective way to do that.

I started using the Hungryroot meal delivery service. How it works is that you first take their quiz and tell them about yourself. Then they create your grocery plan. After that, they fill your cart up. You can either keep their selections or pick things out for yourself. They then ship these groceries out to you once a week. You can even pause deliveries or skip weeks at a time if you’re going on vacation.

When I started using Hungryroot, my husband was deployed, and it was just me and my toddler and baby at home. I was also working full time. I was using another meal delivery service, because no one wants to take two kids to a grocery store during a pandemic. Unfortunately, the meals from this service took 30+ minutes to prepare. When you’re the only parent at home, and are working every day, that is precious time that you just don’t have. So when I learned that the Hungryroot meals can take only 10 minutes to prepare, I was sold.

They use fresh, clean ingredients and ship them straight to your door. I am a pescatarian, and it was easy to pick meals that cater to that. They have a large selection of recipes and single ingredients to choose from. Unlike most delivery services, you can plan out your breakfasts, lunches, and snacks, as well as dinners. This will help you to stay on track and not just grab something sweet to satisfy your hunger.

Their subscription service can be tailored based on the size of your family. Each plan costs something different based on how much food you need. The plans start as low as $59. This is much less than I pay going to a grocery store once a week to pick out foods myself.

Hungryroot makes it easy to eat clean, good for you meals to help you shed those extra pounds. If you sign up now can get 30% off, plus a free gift in every delivery!

In conclusion, a balance of effective workouts and healthy eating is the best way to finally lose the extra baby weight that your body has been holding onto. Thankfully, these two services make it so easy to do that. I saw results in the first month! Now when I look in the mirror I see a body that has carried two babies, but I also see a body that is strong and healthy. Eating good food and exercising will help bring you back to yourself after having kids.
